As BBC Spotlight was aware, Saoradh made an audio recording of the interview, which we have released in full and uninterrupted here.
The full interview provides an opportunity to put the broadcast contribution in it’s full context.
In addition, a number of false allegations that were made in the BBC Spotlight broadcast are dealt with and countered.
For example, amongst the allegations made by Spotlight last night by Conor Spackman was the accusation that two Derry Republicans are members of the IRA. It is clear in this recording that when challenged by Dee as to whether he knows any members of the IRA, Spackman actually replies “no” emphatically.
In the week that it was revealed in court that two journalists were arrested and raided by the PSNI in order to protect those responsible for the Loughinisland massacre, the only “proof” for any unsubstantiated allegations made in the programme was the word of PSNI statements and “sources”. This fact will not be lost on the wider public.
Saoradh were open and honest with programme makers about the reasons for making our own recording of this interview. For the purposes of transparency, we have decided to make it available to the Republican base and general public.
