On the 14th March 1923, four IRA Volunteers were executed during The Irish Civil War, and became known as ‘The Drumboe Martyrs’

On this day March 14th during the Irish Civil War, in 1923. IRA Volunteers Charlie Daly of Firies, Timothy O’ Sullivan and Dan Enright of Listowel along with Seán Larkin of Derry were executed by free staters near Drumboe castle in Stranorlar County Donegal

The song “Take it Down From the Mast” sums up the feelings of Republicans after the Drumboe executions.
