On the home stretch now after a break of a week or two (and a proposal, I’m thinking of examining Sean Swan’s book on the Officials next – anyone interested in reading it along with me?), the book engages with the ‘violent fringe’ of alt-right, like those at Charlottesville. Joshua Goldberg is mentioned – though worth keeping in mind what was said the other week in regard to so much of this being an on-line phenomenon (something I think Barnes noted weeks back). Wendling recounts how he Goldberg sent out supposedly Islamist sourced bomb threats through him too. Goldberg who was a fantastist of sorts, and who wrote for the Daily Stormer amongst other lovely outlets, was alt-right, though for those on parts of the alt-right with one rather problematic aspect to his heritage – that of being from a Jewish background.
