The IT has a report this morning well worth reading, on how the British government asked the ROI to ‘ease off’ its emphasis on peace in Northern Ireland and move the focus away from the GFA/BA because the British PM was concerned and ‘hurt’ that the UK’s role as a guarantor of the latter agreement was not being taken seriously.

And yet given the UK’s palpable lack of interest in the Border (May’s first visit to the Border as PM was this July), or the concerns of the ROI, or indeed continuing retreat from the backstop agreement(s) one has to wonder precisely what the UK expects the ROI to do?
