Stop UK lies & corruption
It’s a fact that Amazon are very successful and don’t pay much tax in the UK compared to high street retailers. It’s a very clever business model, perfectly legal and often allows them to sell goods cheaper than you’d find in traditional shops.
Many owners of high street shops are Tory donors and they are not happy with Amazon’s success. Rather than compete on Amazon’s level it seems likely they’ve had a ‘quiet word’ with someone in power. Now the Tories are trying to find a way for online retailers like Amazon to pay more tax. Of course it won’t stop there. People will shop where they can find the best deals and if they don’t find them on Amazon they’ll turn to places like Ebay – and so the Tories will cash in on them too.
