Long gone, thankfully, are the original large-scale opium smugglers Jardine and Mathieson, the Tobacco Lords, and those who made fortunes out of slavery. Those who took advantage of every situation that came their way, often to the extreme detriment and prejudice of vulnerable disadvantaged peoples. In some cases massive corporate multinationals still exist as a consequence of their actions.

Looking at those that London now sends forth to the corners of the globe, purportedly to do Scotland’s bidding, a few centuries later, these figures of the empire’s past have been replaced by individuals who still look like they are on drugs, slaver a lot, and would drive the rest of us tae smoking fags.
