It kills me to say this… But Simon Harris at Féile was excellent. His points in his introductory minute re nationalists never being left behind and his defence of the GFA/BA was remarkable. And his comments on abortion and marriage equality were spot on.
In some ways it is both bizarre and refreshing to see FG representatives – and self-avowed representatives of the government of Ireland, being so unequivocal. And perhaps this is an easy win, but FG has been very very astute in aligning with the GFA/BA. They don’t have to go one step beyond that to entirely legitimately discuss and take ownership of the approaches articulated by Harris in that minute.
And this brings to mind a point made by Tom McGurk in the SBP a week or two back that by contrast FF seems to be flailing in regard to the North. That its criticisms of FG…
