In European records this event is known as “The Battle of Pinjarra”, but the Noongar people veiw it very differently as “The Pinjarra Massacre”.

On 28th October 1834, along the Murray River in the Pinjarra area, a camp of Noongar people were attacked by a party of British soldiers led by James Stirling, the British Governor of the Swan River Colony.
